Louis Vuitton Catalogue
The new Louis Vuitton catalogue "L'Ame du Voyage" shot by Alexi Lubomirski foregrounds the action behind the scenes. Unveiling the orchestration of the spectacle, and allowing reality to enter the scene, emerged in fashion photography in the 1960s with Norman Parkinson and others, more on the history here. The trend has greatly increased, with more and more reality in images, or even simulated reality as presented here. When we see a fashion image, we know that we are being sold a fantasy, but even when the photo unveils this practice of fantasy making, we are somehow still seduced.
