Hermès' most recent art collaboration is with French artists Daniel Buren. They have launched 365 original scarves from 22 photos-souvenirs by Buren, 2 to 4 selected frames within each photo and 18 possibilities of framings according to the selected pictures. The resulting scarves emphasize Buren's signature stripes and add images from the artist's travels. Buren explained “they are unique objects like paintings but rather than fixed on a wall are made to be worn.”
The Fondation d’entreprise Hermès actively supports art projects, mainly by young and emerging artists. The annual prize is open for submissions though November 30.
Hermès is responsible for bringing many contemporary art projects to completion such as Carston Holler's Mirrored Carousel in 2005 below. The foundation also supports dozens of exhibitions annually and maintains a permanent collection.
