Japan

The current FIT exhibition, Japan Fashion Now, is accompanied by a catalog with text by Valerie Steele and others. The intention is to review the past 20 years of Japanese fashion. Despite the title, there is an emphasis on the aspects of Japanese fashion that have long been embraced by the West, namely the Japan Paris set - Yamamoto, Rei Kawakubo, Issey Miyake, Hanae Mori and Kenzo. Younger designers like Daisuke Obana are also included alongside the Harajuku scene.
