Top 30: Vivienne Westwood

From her extreme aggression and street style to the poetic glamour she has acquired, Westwood is living art. Her use of plaid again and again demonstrates her punk dedication will not die, even if it has been aestheticized.

Something rarely discussed with Westwood is her indulgence of femininity. The excess fabric, wide hips and draping suggest a nostalgic female power.

Above both 1993, amazing how the work on the left is a deconstructed Ralph Lauren while that on the right is pure Westwood.
